The first marker was made on the place of execution on 6 October 1871. With a rectangular termite stone. The present obelisk was unveiled on 6 October 1881. The old stone was incorporated into the old pedestal. In 1932 it was discovered that the monument was not on the site of the execution, but 400 m away.
